Remote Control Your Bot
Want to check/restart your bot while at work? This guide will show you how you can check on the status of your PC from work. It is only suitable for fairly advanced PC users.
Installing VNC Server on Your PC
First, you need to install a VNC server program on your home PC where you will be running the bot. The recommended application is RealVNC from http://www.realvnc.com/. Navigate to Products -> Free Edition and click on "download the latest version". The form asking you for your details is optional. Make sure you download the "Installer including both Server and Viewer". Proceeed with the installation accepting the default setup and restart the computer when the installation is complete.
Starting VNC Server
You will need to configure your firewall to allow RealVNC to access the internet. If you are behind a router you will also need to configure port forwarding for port 5900 to your PC. Start Real VNC server and setup the connection, making sure to enter a password. Check that the server is running correctly by going to http://www.realvnc.com/cgi-bin/nettest.cgi.
Logging in From Work
Once your VNC Server is up and running on your home PC, you can check in on it from any PC connected to the interenet using your password. You will need to download RealVNC viewer from http://www.realvnc.com/ following the same steps as before to download the free version but only download the viewer.
